We are all leaders - Mar 2012

To all Awesome South Africans

“There is still too much suffering on our continent that could have been prevented by leadership which put the interests of the people supreme. The conflict, war and instability in many parts of our continent must in great measure be blamed on an absence of leaders who are capable of or willing to subject personal and sectional considerations to the well-being and common good of the people”

These are the words used by Nelson Mandela upon receiving the Order Of The Lion Of Malawi from President BakiliMuluzi in 2002. The article below highlights individual leaders in our country who have founded, shaped and drive the organisations which Awesome SA support.

The Awesome SA team feels honoured to have been asked to write regular articles for Lead SA. It is exciting to see how many organisations are pulling together, calling for our people to become active in creating a better future for all"The second article entitled Negative Thinking is just a bad habit by Di Smith, which was published on the LEADSA website challenges us to all rethink our outlook and makes interesting reading

How do we go to that place where we can see beyond the narrow confines of our minds regarding race, colour, political and religious beliefs? How do we span the social gap that still exists between our people in this country?

The answer lies in leadership and strong spiritual practice – whatever our particular tradition. You and I are the leaders that this country is calling for.

Negative Thinking is Just a Bad Habit by Di Smith

We live in one of the most beautiful and bountiful countries in the world, and like the Brand SA slogan proclaimed from a few years ago, South Africa is certainly alive with possibility.

But wherever I go I run into negativity. Eventually it hangs over my head like a heavy black thunder cloud. I have to consciously shift my thoughts to prevent myself from being enveloped with this gloom, suspicion and negative frame of mind. Read more
